Integration of indoor tracking data to a virtual twin

Virtual Manufacturing is a supplier of lean-based production development services. We believe in and are willing to take on the challenge of combining technology, methods and hard work around production development in order to achieve results.


Problem description

Today, a lot of companies and researchers talk about digital twin as a part of industry 4.0. Virtual Twin is Virtual Manufacturing’s own brand of digital twin that we promote to our customers. Tracking of assets, such as operators and forklifts, can be one way to gain knowledge of how industrial processes are currently being performed. To have access to real-time data can ensure that decisions in development projects are based on facts. The question is how data from indoor tracking and the virtual twin can be connected.


Proposed research questions:

Research question 1: How can tracking data be integrated into other softwares?

Research question 2: How can tracking data be transferred in real time to a virtual twin?
