Kitting / Assembly with Augmented Reality and IR Tracking

Virtual Manufacturing is a supplier of lean-based production development services. We believe in and are willing to take on the challenge of combining technology, methods and hard work around production development in order to achieve results.


Problem description

During last year we have been developing applications for Microsoft HoloLens. One application we have been working with is guiding an operator in a kitting station. Guiding by visualizing the direction, amount of component and placement in the kitting trolley.

We would like to investigate how to combine high accurate IR tracking technology with Microsoft HoloLens to both be able to visualize and assure that the operator picked the correct parts.

Research question 1: How would these to system transfer data in real time with each other?
Research question 2: How will this increase the quality compared to other standard cognitive kitting technologies?
